Apple Eyes AI Server Launch in 2029 with Nvidia's NVLink Fusion Interconnect
Apple is developing an enterprise AI server using its M8 Ultra chips for a 2029 launch. The company has held talks with Nvidia about incorporating NVLink Fusion interconnect to link these chips, according to The Information. Apple engineers consider NVLink the best available connectivity option due to its ability to link chips from different vendors at high speeds.
The AI server will come in two configurations: one pairing two M8 Ultra chips and another pairing four. This platform aims to cater to AI developers, businesses, and governments. New chief executive John Ternus backed the project when it started about a year ago.
