Apple Faced Labor Disruption as Italian Workers Strike Over Working Conditions
On September 18th, Apple faced a labor disruption in Italy as over 1,600 employees across 17 stores went on strike. The workers, who are part of three unions, demanded more hiring, permanent contracts for temporary staff, and increased hours for part-time employees.
The strike coincided with the global launch of the iPhone 18 Pro, but Apple's Italian stores remained open despite the labor action. However, the disruption could have a long-term impact on the company's premium retail model, particularly since the new iPhone starts at €1,489 in Italy.
The strike has raised concerns about whether labor pressure will become a recurring cost for Apple, which is already trading above its estimated value of $286.32 per share. The current market price is $333.95, with investors paying a premium for strong execution to remain the norm.
