Apple Hit With $5.7B Patent Infringement Verdict Amid Product Launch Frenzy

A federal jury in San Diego has ordered Apple (AAPL) to pay over $5.7 billion for infringing two haptic-technology patents.

The verdict was handed down after a trial, and Apple has stated that it will appeal the decision.

Burford is claiming around $1.4 billion of this amount, warning that large post-trial awards often shrink on appeal or settlement.
