Apple Hits $5 Trillion Mark as U.S. Stocks Rise Amid Crypto Decline
U.S. stocks rose at market close yesterday as Apple broke another record, but crypto-linked shares declined, resulting in a mixed outcome for markets watched by digital-asset investors.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.93%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite gained 0.51% and 0.48%, respectively. This follows Apple's market value nearing $5 trillion after gaining over 1% to reach a new record closing high.
Semiconductor, storage, and optical communications stocks saw significant gains, with Seagate Technology rising by 1.20%, Western Digital adding 1.44%, and Nvidia increasing 0.22%. Conversely, Intel fell 3.45%.
Crypto-linked shares, on the other hand, moved downward, with Strategy declining 1.86%, Coinbase falling 2.06%, Circle dropping 4.30%, BitMine Immersion losing 1.68%, and SharpLink Gaming sliding 3.22%. Optical communications stocks generally saw higher performance, except for Ciena's 0.42% decline.
