Apple iPhone Duo Set to Drive Foldable Screen Growth with 6 Million Sales Forecast
Market research firm Counterpoint Research has forecast that Apple will sell approximately 6 million iPhone Duo units this year. The estimate marks the industry's first sales forecast for the new foldable device, which is priced at $1,999 and scheduled for an official launch in October.
The iPhone Duo will be positioned at the top of Apple's product lineup and carry the hopes of sparking greater interest in and sales of foldable screens. The market research firm IDC estimates that foldable smartphone shipments will grow 13% this year, reaching 22.9 million units, driven by Apple's entry into the market.
Counterpoint senior analyst Ivan Lam stated that the figure for iPhone Duo sales is more reflective of the niche foldable-screen market rather than regular flagship models. The final sales volume will depend on how quickly Apple ramps up production capacity for the new hardware.
