Apple iPhone Sales Soar as Demand for Newer Models Takes Hold
Apple's iPhone sales topped estimates in its recently reported fiscal third quarter, with revenue of $54.25 billion representing a nearly 22% increase from the same period last year.
The company's flagship smartphone business was a key driver of this growth, with Apple being one of only two major names in the industry to defy the overall decline in demand for smartphones during the second calendar quarter of this year.
According to data from IDC, Apple saw a 15.3% year-over-year increase in iPhone shipments, outpacing Samsung's 8.1% growth rate and marking the second consecutive quarter that Apple has achieved the industry's highest year-over-year increase in unit shipments.
This surge in demand is particularly notable given the upcoming launch of the new iPhone 18, which will feature a new-and-improved AI-powered digital assistant, Siri.
