Apple Pays Samsung $250 Per iPhone Duo Display Panel

Apple has secured an exclusive display deal with Samsung Electronics for its upcoming iPhone Duo. According to reports, Apple will have to pay $250 for every main folding panel fitted inside the phone. The three-year supply contract covers not only the current Duo but also future models released during this period.

The production process of the foldable display is more complex compared to other iPhones, which increases its cost. However, it's worth noting that the $250 figure does not include expenses incurred by Apple on the screen itself, such as assembling and testing. The cost only applies to the folding display within the phone.

Samsung has been a long-time supplier of displays for various Apple products, but this deal marks a significant milestone in their partnership. Apple's inability to find another manufacturer capable of producing high-quality foldable screens led them to rely on Samsung. LG Display, another important screen supplier for Apple, is not currently capable of manufacturing flexible screens.

The iPhone Duo, priced at $1,999, features an inner panel designed with higher brightness, longer usability, and a barely visible crease. Samsung supplies this key screen, which has become a point of competition between the two companies in the foldable phone market.
