Apple Shares Plummet 2.7% Amid Mixed News
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) shares experienced a decline of 2.7% during trading on Tuesday, reaching as low as $328.70 and last trading at $329.40.
This drop in value comes amidst a backdrop of mixed news for the company. On one hand, CEO John Ternus is reportedly considering a leaner organization with less middle management, which could potentially accelerate innovation, particularly in artificial intelligence and new devices.
Additionally, Apple's support for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing's (TSMC) accelerated 2-nanometer expansion suggests continued access to advanced chips for future iPhones, Macs, and other products. TSMC expects premium pricing and strong demand for this technology.
However, there are also concerns. Bank of America warned that Meta Platforms' Muse AI shopping agent could redirect product discovery and transaction activity away from Apple's ecosystem, potentially threatening high-margin services and commerce-related revenue.
The company is also facing a roughly $5.7 billion patent verdict involving haptic technology, as well as revived UK consumer claims concerning product sales through Amazon's marketplace.
