Apple Shares Surge on Rumored Smart-Home Product Lineup
Apple shares have climbed about 2% in morning trading on Wednesday, following reports of a new smart-home product lineup that could expand the company's presence beyond its existing home devices.
The centerpiece is a rumored new home hub, expected to be unveiled on October 13. This device features a roughly six-inch display and can either sit on a countertop or be mounted on a wall, serving as a one-stop shop for home controls, media, and communications.
Apple is also reportedly preparing an updated HomePod mini and a new Apple TV, both retaining their current designs but receiving faster processors to support newer Siri AI capabilities. This move aims to give Apple a more dedicated presence in the smart-home market, where Amazon and Google already have established products.
