Apple Stock Falls 1.2% on Ex-Dividend, Analyst Downgrade Concerns
Apple stock fell by 1.2% in pre-market trading as it went ex-dividend for its quarterly $0.27 payout, a mechanical reduction that trimmed the opening price.
The drop was compounded by analyst and supply-chain concerns, including a Jefferies downgrade to Underperform with a slashed price target of $263.66 from $285.56.
The downgrade pointed to the cancellation of Apple's highly anticipated all-glass iPhone due to low manufacturing yields, as well as cuts to earnings estimates through fiscal year 2029.
Additionally, a report revealed that Apple has been testing memory chips from China's CXMT for use across its iPhone and MacBook lines, introducing regulatory and geopolitical risk.
The broader market context provided little relief, with the S&P 500 essentially flat at +0.1% and the Nasdaq up 0.3%, while the Dow Jones dipped 0.1%.
