Apple Stock Takes Hit Amid Broader Market Decline
Apple's stock fell almost 1% on Wednesday due to broader risk-off pressure that weighed heavily on large-cap technology and growth stocks. The Nasdaq dropped 1.05%, the S&P 500 fell 0.55%, and the Technology sector declined about 1%. Despite this decline, Apple has several positive developments on its horizon.
The company recently launched a new Mac mini powered by the M6 chip, which delivers up to four times faster AI performance than previous models. The Mac Studio, featuring the M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, targets demanding professional and AI workloads with support for up to 512GB of unified memory.
Analysts are optimistic about Apple's future prospects. CLSA's Bhavtosh Vajpayee identified Apple's smartphone ecosystem as a potentially important gateway for consumer AI. Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring remains highly optimistic about the company's upcoming Duo foldable, expecting it to sell nearly every unit produced over the next 12 months.
However, Woodring also noted that Apple trades at a 'relatively rich' valuation of around 33 times fiscal 2027 earnings, near its historical peak multiple. Further stock gains may require higher earnings estimates, while a deeper slowdown in Services could pressure Apple's valuation.
