Apple Taps Nvidia For Enterprise AI Server Push
Apple's comeback push into enterprise servers is gaining momentum as the company reportedly taps Nvidia for its NVLink Fusion technology to connect processors in a new server line. According to The Information, Apple is developing two versions of the M8 Ultra AI servers: one with two chips and another with four.
The servers are designed for AI developers, businesses, and governments, but their launch is not expected until 2029. Nvidia's NVLink Fusion technology would enable fast communication between processors inside data centers, which Apple's existing connectivity technology cannot match in terms of speed or cost.
This move marks a significant shift for Apple, which previously sold its Xserve server line from 2002 to 2011. The company is also using Nvidia chips in data centers operated by Google as part of its revamped Siri effort.
