Apple Tops Nvidia as World's Most Valuable Company Amid AI Spending Concerns
Nvidia's reign as the world's most valuable company has come to an end. Apple has taken the top spot after Nvidia's stock dropped 8% over the past three months, while Apple's rose by 27%. The decline in Nvidia's value is largely due to market concerns about AI spending and its long-term sustainability.
The chipmaker, which specializes in gaming technology but has seen significant growth thanks to its role in artificial intelligence development, should benefit from continued strong AI spending. However, the market seems skeptical about this prospect, with investors tempering their expectations for Nvidia's stock in the near term.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently stated that total AI spend is expected to reach $1 trillion next year and $3 trillion to $4 trillion by the end of the decade. He believes that Nvidia will generate $1 trillion in revenue from 2025 through 2027 from its Blackwell and Rubin lines alone.
