Apple Unveils Foldable iPhone Duo with $1,999 Price Tag
Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) first foldable iPhone, called the iPhone Duo, was unveiled on September 9, 2026. The device starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model and is expected to be available from October 23. This marks a significant shift in Apple's product cycle since John Ternus became chief executive on September 1.
The June-quarter results showed revenue of $109.4 billion, up 16% from $94.0 billion. Net income was $29.8 billion and diluted earnings per share were $2.02 compared to $1.57 a year earlier. The company's cash and marketable securities stood at $146.5 billion.
Apple has historically protected its margins in the smartphone market, but the iPhone Duo's high price may impact this strategy. The device could also lift average selling prices, but foldable designs rely on complex hinges and displays with limited supplier capacity.
