Apple Upgrade Might Suggest End of ACMI Program
Apple has introduced its new leasing program, Apple Upgrade, which offers more flexible and generous terms compared to the iPhone Upgrade Program it replaces.
The new program allows customers to lease Apple products with no interest or late fees, and earn a 3% cash back reward using Apple Card. At the end of the leasing term, customers can purchase the device by paying the difference between the leasing cost and the MSRP.
This has left some wondering if Apple Card Monthly Installments (ACMI) will be phased out in the future.
The transition from Goldman Sachs to JPMorgan Chase as the partner bank for Apple Card is scheduled to take place in early 2028, but it's unclear what this means for ACMI. The Apple Card website states that users can continue to use ACMI when checking out with Apple Card at Apple Store locations and apple.com.
However, the phrasing 'can continue' suggests that nothing is changing right away, but may not be a guarantee of its long-term future.
