Apple's iPhone Sales May Not Save It from Losing Control to AI
Apple's iPhone sales may not be enough to save the company from losing control over customer behavior. According to Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan, Apple's prized feature - what consumers do next after buying an iPhone - could slip away as AI agents like Meta Platforms' Muse become increasingly popular.
Muse has been downloaded 2.5 million times in its first weeks and is already integrating with commerce platforms such as Shopify, Expedia, and PayPal. However, Amazon has banned the app from using its services. Mohan believes that Siri AI, Apple's revised assistant, lacks agentic skills compared to Muse.
The analyst thinks that competing AI agents can progress faster than Apple releases new software upgrades annually. To keep up, Apple may need to integrate Siri AI with payments, services, silicon, and privacy features.
