Apple's Secret Smart Home Project Unveiled
Apple is reportedly planning to unveil its Apple Home Hub as early as next month. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the hub will be one of CEO John Ternus's first major projects.
The smart home device aims to unify various home controls and media, providing access to Apple apps and services. It will feature a 7-inch square display with built-in facial recognition technology, similar to Amazon's Echo and Google's Nest devices.
The hub will run on a new OS built around Siri AI, which was introduced in iOS 27 last week. The interface will resemble a combination of iOS, tvOS, and watchOS, with features like widgets, clock faces, and a home screen.
Users can expect personalized content based on who is using the hub and where they are in the room. Apple plans to release different form factors for the device, including models that rest on a stand or attach to a wall.
