Apple's upcoming leadership transition has sparked interest in the company's future direction. As of August 20, shares traded at $317, up nearly 16% this year, ahead of CEO Tim Cook's departure on September 1.

Cook will hand over the reins to John Ternus, Apple's hardware chief, who is expected to adopt a bolder strategic approach. According to Bank of America, this may include increased R&D spending and capital expenditures, as well as entry into new product categories such as AI-powered eyewear and robotics.

Apple's financial performance under Cook has been impressive, with fiscal 2025 sales reaching $416.2 billion and a 2,700% total shareholder return since 2011. The company has also spent over $880 billion on share repurchases since launching its buyback program in 2012.

Bank of America maintains a Buy rating and a $380 price target for Apple, citing the potential for AI-driven growth and the company's ability to justify its premium valuation.
