Fort Wayne City Councilman Geoff Paddock has asked Indiana's Department of Environmental Management to apply strict review standards to Google's request for wetlands permits related to its data center campus.

The permits are needed to fill in over two acres of forested wetlands. Google has offered to create wetlands elsewhere to offset the loss, but Paddock is concerned about the impact on the local environment.

Paddock cited concerns from his constituents and noted that Google did not mention wetland-related issues when it asked for rezoning approval last year.
