Arajet Accelerates Boeing 737 MAX Deliveries, Eyes Expansion in Argentina
Arajet is accelerating its Boeing 737 MAX deliveries and expanding its presence in Argentina. The Dominican airline has amended its agreement with Boeing to bring forward the delivery of at least four additional aircraft, taking its operating fleet from 17 planes to 25 in 2027.
This growth plan aims to strengthen Arajet's network of connections in Latin America. According to José Gregorio Cabrera, Arajet's vice president of Communications, this expansion will give the airline the capacity it needs to open new routes and increase frequencies in its most profitable markets.
Arajet currently operates 16 aircraft and has experienced exponential growth in Argentina, carrying 3,378 passengers in 2023 and projecting 290,888 travelers by the end of 2026, an increase of 256.8%. The airline's growth in the Argentine market has not only boosted its own traffic but also stimulated the general growth of all airlines operating the route between Argentina and the Dominican Republic.
Arajet expects to surpass 3 million passengers in 2027, establish the Dominican Republic as a major air hub of the Americas, and have a network spanning 35 destinations in more than 20 countries. The airline currently flies from Buenos Aires and Córdoba to its hubs in Punta Cana and Santo Domingo and will resume its seasonal link to Mendoza in October.
