Arboretum LifeSciences has debuted with a $30 million Series A funding round, aiming to broaden access to genetic testing for common diseases and develop a molecular information platform for precision medicine. The round was led by F-Prime, GV.406 Ventures, Hims & Hers, Amgen, and other healthcare investors. The company, founded by leaders from the Broad Institute’s Data Sciences Platform, combines artificial intelligence, genomic testing, and clinical data to support precision medicine and genomically stratified clinical trials.

Arboretum is initially focusing on cardiovascular, metabolic, and autoimmune diseases, areas where precision medicine has progressed more slowly than in oncology and rare diseases. The company offers clinical genetic testing and access to a collaborative research network for healthcare systems. Its model aims to identify at-risk patients, provide actionable genomic findings, and build molecular datasets for research and clinical trials.

For biopharmaceutical companies, Arboretum plans to offer genomically stratified clinical development capabilities, patient matching, and datasets to support target discovery, trial design, and commercialization. The company has already established partnerships with healthcare providers like Advocate Health, Geisinger, Providence Healthcare, and Cardiovascular Associates of America. These partnerships will integrate genetic testing into existing services and registries.

Key figures from Arboretum and its partners shared their vision. Anthony Philippakis, M.D., Ph.D., Co-Founder and CEO, emphasized the need to identify genetically-defined populations for better therapeutic outcomes. Clare Bernard, Ph.D., President of Arboretum, highlighted the importance of patient-centered research. Michael Montalto, Ph.D., Vice President of Precision Medicine at Amgen, noted the critical role of large-scale genomic and clinical datasets in drug development. Terry Gilliland, President and CEO of Geisinger, stressed the need for scalable genetic testing integration in routine care.
