Archer Aviation Clears Regulatory Hurdle for Boeing Subsidiaries Acquisition
Archer Aviation has cleared a significant regulatory hurdle in its plan to acquire Boeing subsidiaries Wisk Aero, SkyGrid and Insitu. The Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act's mandatory waiting period expired on September 18, 2026, allowing the acquisition process to move forward.
The proposed deal would integrate Wisk's autonomy and eVTOL expertise with Insitu's unmanned aircraft systems and SkyGrid's airspace intelligence. Archer Aviation would combine these capabilities with its own aircraft portfolio and AI foundation model ZEE to create an end-to-end physical AI platform for aerospace and defense.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Archer Aviation's competitive position in emerging markets, including advanced air mobility and unmanned systems. However, the deal still requires customary conditions and regulatory approvals before closing by year-end 2026.
