Arik Air Investors Protest Dismantling of Boeing Aircraft at Lagos Airport
Arik Air Ltd., Nigeria's major airline, is facing controversy over the dismantling of one of its Boeing 737-700 aircraft at Lagos' Murtala Muhammed Airport.
The move has raised concerns among investors, who have demanded answers from Oluseye Opasanya, the airline's Receiver Manager. In a letter dated August 17, 2026, leading shareholder Johnson Arumemi-Ikhide questioned the dismantling process and requested full disclosure on the aircraft's identity, security status, and rightful ownership.
The shareholders also asked whether the aircraft was connected to an alleged debt owed to Access Bank, which they claimed had not been satisfactorily documented. They maintained that their letter should not be interpreted as consent to the disposal or transfer of any Arik Air asset.
