Arizona Kitchen Transformed with Neutral Colors and White Backsplash

Pamela Stewart's kitchen was feeling dated and dreary, despite its 9-foot ceilings and large windows offering Arizona landscape views. The space had a predominantly brown color scheme, which made it feel darker than it actually was. To make matters worse, the kitchen was open to the living room with just a peninsula bar separating the two spaces, creating shadows and changing the light throughout the day.

Pamela's goal was to create a brighter, more contemporary space that matched the feeling of her unit. She chose neutral colors for this purpose, but struggled to find the perfect paint color to blend the original chocolate brown flooring and old granite countertop. Initially, she selected Sherwin-Williams' 'Taupe of the Morning' for the cabinets, which unfortunately changed significantly once painted due to the light reflecting from the large windows.

Instead of repainting the cabinets in a new shade, Pamela decided to add a white high-gloss tile backsplash to blend the colors on the cabinets. This addition seemed to work well, but the final touch was painting the entire kitchen Sherwin-Williams' 'Alabaster', which brought all the neutral colors together and brightened up the space.

The result is a relaxing and calming environment that blends beautifully with the living room. The new backsplash adds an elegant and contemporary feel to the space, making Pamela happy with her kitchen refresh.
