Armed Gas Station Confrontation Ends in Deadly Shooting

A Riverton gas station witnessed a violent confrontation on Tuesday when an armed man entered the Chevron Holiday gas station at 12600 S. 4185 West, according to public information officer Nate Slack.

The incident began when the man attempted to purchase alcohol without identification, and the clerk refused to make the sale due to his lack of ID.

This led to a heated exchange between the two, with the man becoming 'belligerent' and 'argumentative.'

Two individuals who were at the scene tried to de-escalate the situation by intervening, but they left when the man retreated to his vehicle.

However, the armed man soon returned to the gas station with a shotgun, firing shots. The two individuals then returned fire, resulting in the death of the shooter outside the store.
