Armenia Emerges as Surprise AI Hotspot with Trump-Nvidia Deal
In a surprising turn of events, Armenia has emerged as an AI hotspot thanks to a deal between former US President Donald Trump and Nvidia Corp. The San Francisco-based startup Firebird began operating a data center in Armenia in August, which is set to reach 300 megawatts by the end of next year.
The data center will be equipped with over 70,000 cutting-edge Nvidia chips, with a fifth of its computing power allocated for domestic use. This will enable local research, government, and startup ecosystems to tap into advanced AI infrastructure.
The remainder of the data center's capacity is reserved for foreign firms, including US companies like Perplexity AI. The project marks a significant development in Armenia's bid to become one of the world's top hubs for American AI infrastructure.
