Akshay Bhalla, a tech editor and former game guide for Screen Rant, recently discovered Google Maps' Ask Maps feature to be a game-changer for planning road trips.
He used to spend an entire weekend planning rest stops and other stops along the way, but with Ask Maps, he can now plan an itinerary with a simple conversation and get every detail he needs.
The feature uses Google Maps' live data, including 300+ million places, reviews, and photos, to provide recommendations based on the user's preferences, saved places, food preferences, and past searches.
Bhalla used Ask Maps to plan a scenic drive for his recent road trip, asking it to prioritize good food, coffee stops, avoid tourist traps, and clean restrooms. The feature returned a route that was not only scenic but also compiled a list of recommended places along the way.
