Atlanta HBCUs Receive Grants for Campus Improvements
Two historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in Atlanta, Clark Atlanta University and Spelman College, have received grants from Home Depot's Retool Your School program. The program awards campus improvement grants to HBCUs across the country.
The $200,000 grants will be used by Clark Atlanta to create a student collaboration and innovation hub, while Spelman plans to renovate transitional spaces for students. In addition to these larger grants, Home Depot also awarded 14 smaller grants worth $75,000 each to other HBCUs.
Meanwhile, Morehouse College has unveiled a new multimedia center, made possible by a gift from NBA legend Michael Jordan and his brand. The center will provide students with hands-on experience in digital storytelling, sports broadcasting, podcasting, and filmmaking. According to the college, the center is intended to support the next generation of storytellers and media professionals.
