ATSG Takes Flight with Amazon's New A330 Freighters
Amazon's air logistics network is getting a boost with the introduction of Airbus A330 converted freighter aircraft. Air Transport Services Group (ATSG), Amazon's largest partner in its air logistics network, has received its first A330 freighter and plans to begin flying it for Amazon in the first quarter of 2027.
The transition away from Boeing 767 medium widebody jets is part of ATSG's plan to diversify its midsize aircraft offering. The company has said it intends to acquire and convert 30 A330s for cargo, with two already delivered to Turkey-based ULS Airlines Cargo.
The shift to the A330 was inevitable as the number of mid-life Boeing 767 passenger aircraft available for conversion is dwindling. ATSG's management plans to hire more pilots and maintenance personnel as it adds capacity to its fleet.
