Austin Dethrones Houston as Texas' Tallest Building

Austin's Waterline has become the tallest building in Texas, surpassing Houston's JPMorgan Chase Tower by 23 feet. The 74-story mixed-use tower rises 1,025 feet and took 48 months to complete, finishing two months ahead of schedule.

The project involved approximately 6,800 workers who contributed more than 4.5 million hours to the construction. Waterline combines apartments, a hotel, offices, restaurants, retail, and parking across 2.7 million square feet.

Interestingly, while Austin's new tallest building is technically taller, Houston's JPMorgan Chase Tower still holds the record for most floors with 75 stories. The completion of Waterline marks the end of a skyscraper reign that lasted over four decades in Houston.
