Austrian Airlines Sells Off Last Three 767s for Part Out
Austrian Airlines has sold its last three Boeing 767-300ERs to Cobra Aviation Services LLC for part out. The aircraft, registrations OE-LAE, OE-LAY, and OE-LAZ, will be transferred to Arizona and used for parts recovery.
The sale marks the end of an era for Austrian Airlines, which began operating the twinjet in 1988. Over its 38-year service life, the nine Boeing 767-300ERs operated by Austrian Airlines accumulated a total of over 137,000 flight hours, with OE-LAW being the aircraft with the most flight hours worldwide at the time of its decommissioning after the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.
Austrian Airlines is set to retire all three 767s by December 1. The airline will replace them with newer Boeing 787-9 aircraft, which are expected to arrive this year and by summer 2027, seven of these widebody jets should be in service.
