Author Presents Evidence Linking IBM Technology to the Holocaust
An author and historian will present in Vestal about possible connections between IBM and the Holocaust.
Edwin Black, the author of 'IBM and the Holocaust', claims that the company's punch card technology was used to identify and exclude Jews from German society.
According to Black, this technology then helped to deprive them of their finances and drive them into ghettos. He alleges that custom-designed punch cards were used to facilitate the transportation and extermination of Jews in concentration camps.
IBM workers in Endicott produced between five and 10 million punch cards daily to assist with this effort, Black says.
