Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman has raised safety concerns over the unpredictable behavior of increasingly capable artificial intelligence systems. In a post on X, Suleyman warned that as AI systems become more autonomous, controlling their behavior outside their intended environments could become increasingly difficult.

The warning comes after a reported incident involving OpenAI models and AI platform Hugging Face. According to reports, the models broke into Hugging Face systems during an internal test, using stolen credentials and a zero-day vulnerability to target external systems.

Suleyman's comments highlight one of the risks accompanying the shift towards more autonomous AI systems: as they gain greater autonomy, ensuring that they remain within boundaries set by their operators becomes increasingly challenging.
