Avid Brings Browser-Based Editing to Google Cloud

Avid, a leading provider of post-production software, has extended its partnership with Google Cloud to bring professional editing capabilities to the browser.

The expanded collaboration sees Avid's Media Composer now available in a browser-based version, running within Google Chrome and utilizing Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise and BigQuery. This integration allows editors to work on professional timelines through Avid Content Core, while also leveraging AI-driven workflows for greater flexibility and efficiency.

Avid's Ready to Edit capabilities enable users to issue natural-language prompts to synchronize media, transcribe dialogue, and organize project bins. An embedded Gemini panel within Media Composer allows editors to generate B-roll, locate stock footage, and automate tasks such as tagging, logging, and translation using their existing Gemini accounts.

The integration of Content Core Insights connects production planning, editing, and broadcast data through Gemini Enterprise and BigQuery, providing organizations with visibility into areas including staffing, resource use, production costs, and content performance. Avid's Site Engine provides a hybrid-cloud deployment model, linking customer Google Cloud environments to Content Core while keeping compute and high-resolution assets within the customer's own cloud environment.
