AWS Deal Sends Amazon Stock Soaring Amid NVIDIA Pullback
Amazon's stock jumped 4% after announcing an expanded deal with NVIDIA to deploy an additional 2 million GPUs for AI and robotics workloads on its AWS platform. This move signals strong growth for AWS, which saw a 37% year-over-year revenue increase.
NVIDIA's stock fell 4%, however, due to a broader semiconductor market pullback. Despite supplying the chips, NVIDIA's performance was not directly impacted by the deal itself.
This split highlights investor focus on AWS's scale and capital intensity versus chipmaker supply challenges. Going forward, investors will be watching Amazon's ability to monetize AWS in 2027 and NVIDIA's capacity to meet demand.
