AWS Expands EVS Service for Faster VMware Cloud Migration

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has expanded its Amazon Elastic VMware Service (EVS), allowing companies to run VMware Cloud Foundation directly within an AWS Virtual Private Cloud.

The service, which was made available a year ago, now spans 22 AWS Regions and supports VCF 9.0 and 9.1 on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud bare-metal infrastructure.

According to Andy Reedy, senior manager of EC2 product management at AWS, the primary use case for EVS is data center evacuation, with companies seeking to move away from physical data centers due to expiring contracts or limited access to new hardware.

EVS provides customers with direct control over their VCF environments, allowing them to retain familiar skills and processes while gaining access to scalable AWS infrastructure.
