Bakso, Disney's Beloved Tiger Cub, Set to Leave Animal Kingdom This Fall

Bakso, the Sumatran tiger born at Walt Disney World in September 2024, is leaving Disney's Animal Kingdom this fall. The two-year-old tiger has been a park favorite since his public debut in January 2025, and guests have watched him grow up over the past couple of years.

The move is not just a simple relocation, but rather part of a larger plan to help conserve the critically endangered Sumatran tiger species. Bakso will be moving to another Association of Zoos & Aquariums-accredited zoo, where he may eventually become a father and contribute to the survival of his species.

Disney's Animal Kingdom has been home to fewer than 600 Sumatran tigers in the wild, and Bakso's next chapter could play a significant role in increasing their population. The move is a natural part of the tiger's life cycle, as young tigers become increasingly independent and establish their own territories around two years old.
