Bangladesh Biman Eyes Fleet Upgrade as Boeing, Airbus Compete

Bangladesh's state-owned flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines is upgrading its fleet with new aircraft from Boeing and Airbus. The airline has already finalized a deal with Boeing to purchase 14 planes for $3.7 billion, with deliveries set between 2031 and 2035.

Boeing will also supply an additional 11 aircraft to Biman, bringing the total expected additions to 25 new planes by 2040. Currently, Biman operates a fleet of 19 aircraft, 14 of which are Boeing models.

Airbus is still in talks with Biman to sell at least ten aircraft to the airline. French Ambassador to Dhaka Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet confirmed that discussions between European negotiators and Bangladeshi authorities are ongoing.
