Bangladesh Invites Wall Street Firms to Invest and Use Country as Regional Hub
Bangladesh has invited Wall Street firms to invest in the country and use it as a base for serving the larger regional market. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman made this call during a meeting with Wall Street representatives at JPMorgan Chase's headquarters in Manhattan.
The prime minister said Bangladesh aims to become a globally connected manufacturing, investment, and services hub, offering opportunities beyond its established strength in garments. He identified sectors such as energy, infrastructure, logistics, technology, digital services, climate finance, manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare as promising areas for investment.
Rahman emphasized the government's efforts to create a more investor-friendly environment through deregulation, stronger investor protection, simpler regulations, improved tax administration, easier profit repatriation, and better infrastructure. He also highlighted the country's young workforce, growing domestic market, and strategic location as attractions for investors.
