Bangladesh Keeps Options Open for Additional Boeing Deal at UN Meet
Bangladesh has left the door open for an additional deal with Boeing during Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's visit to New York for the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
The remarks from Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam come as Bangladesh considers expanding Biman Bangladesh Airlines' fleet beyond the 14 Boeing aircraft covered by a $3.7 billion agreement signed in April.
The existing deal covers eight Boeing 787-10s, two 787-9s and four 737-8s, with deliveries scheduled between November 2031 and October 2035.
Another 11 Boeing aircraft are reportedly under consideration, which would bring the total to 25 aircraft if the additional purchase goes ahead. However, Dhaka has yet to disclose the models, price, financing terms or delivery schedule for the additional aircraft.
