Bangladesh Unveils Ambitious Plans to Attract Global Investors
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has invited Wall Street firms to invest in Bangladesh, describing the country as 'open for business'. Speaking at a breakfast meeting hosted by JPMorgan Chase in Manhattan, he emphasized that Bangladesh offers significant opportunities in various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, logistics, technology, and digital services. The Prime Minister highlighted the country's ambition to build a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2034 and position Bangladesh as a globally connected manufacturing, investment, and services hub.
Rahman noted that investors seek predictability and confidence in regulations, investments, capital mobility, and profit repatriation. He assured that his government is working to create such conditions through deregulation, stronger investor protection, easier regulations, improved tax and VAT administration, and better infrastructure. The Prime Minister also mentioned Bangladesh's efforts to deepen economic ties with major global economies, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, the European Union, and China.
