Bangladesh's Largest Private Carrier Places Record $1.5 Billion Jet Order

US-Bangla Airlines, Bangladesh's largest private carrier, has made a significant move in its fleet expansion plans by ordering 21 Boeing jets in lease deals worth approximately $1.5 billion. The airline will take delivery of 15 Boeing 737 MAX 8s and six 737-800s by the end of 2027, which will nearly double its current fleet size from around 25 to about 46 aircraft.

The order was announced at a 'Beyond with Boeing' event in Dhaka on July 29. US-Bangla Airlines aims to turn Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet into genuine hubs and compete with foreign airlines that currently dominate the country's $5.8 billion aviation market.

The airline will source the new jets through five international leasing companies, which is a cost-effective way for a fast-growing carrier like US-Bangla to add capacity without taking on the full capital cost upfront.
