US-Bangla Airlines has made its largest bet yet in a $1.5 billion order for 21 Boeing narrowbodies, including 15 of the latest 737 MAX 8s and six 737-800s.

The order is part of a plan to double the airline's fleet from about 25 jets to around 46 by the end of 2027, with the goal of turning Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet into genuine hubs for regional air travel.

The new aircraft are being leased through five international companies, allowing US-Bangla to add capacity without taking on the full capital cost upfront.

The airline plans to use the fresh capacity to expand its routes across South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and the Gulf, with targets including Bengaluru, Beijing, Kathmandu, Penang, Kuwait, and Madinah.
