Bank of America Slaps Down $72.5 Million to Settle Epstein Sex-Trafficking Claims
Bank of America has agreed to pay $72.5 million to settle a lawsuit alleging that it helped facilitate Jeffrey Epstein's sex-trafficking operation. The settlement covers women who claim they were sexually abused or trafficked by Epstein or his associates between June 30, 2008, and July 6, 2019.
The bank denies any wrongdoing and did not admit liability in the deal. However, it has agreed to pay $72.5 million to compensate the women affected by Epstein's actions. About 60 to 90 women are expected to receive payments under the settlement.
This is the third major bank to settle with victims of Epstein's sex-trafficking operation. JPMorgan Chase earlier paid $290 million, while Deutsche Bank paid $75 million.
