Bathroom Makeover Turns Basic Space into Moody Luxury Oasis
Ava Russo and her fiancé Danny were determined to give their basic all-white bathroom a dramatic makeover. They wanted to add character and luxury to the space, making it feel like a high-end hotel.
Russo, an influencer and DIYer, says she's always been drawn to warmer colors and moody rooms, so this project was the perfect opportunity to explore that style. 'The goal was to have a dark, moody bathroom with a lot of character and personality,' she shares.
The couple kept the existing features they loved, such as the clawfoot tub and hexagonal tile flooring, but updated them to fit their new aesthetic. They resurfaced the tub, swapped out the plumbing and fixtures for gold and brass, and added wainscoting and Sherwin-Williams' 'Dark Auburn' paint to complement the wallpaper.
Russo notes that the first step of putting up the peel-and-stick wallpaper was harder than she thought it would be. However, she advises others not to rush through a project like this one, as taking time allows for better ideas to come forward.
