Baupost Loads Up on AMZN, GOOGL Amid Significant Position Shifts

Baupost Group, the hedge fund led by billionaire investor Seth Klarman, disclosed significant changes to its equity holdings in the second quarter. The firm established a nearly $137-million position in CME Group, parent of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Baupost also increased its stakes in Amazon and Alphabet, making them the firm's largest disclosed equity holdings. Its Amazon stake grew by about 20%, to 3.74 million shares valued at roughly $892 million, while its Alphabet position boosted by around 16% to roughly 1.37 million shares.

In contrast, Baupost trimmed its Restaurant Brands International Inc. (QSR) position by more than 16% to about 6.75 million shares, worth around $490 million.
