Bell and Cisco Team Up on Sovereign AI Infrastructure
Bell Canada has partnered with Cisco to develop sovereign AI infrastructure for Canadian customers. The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding that will utilize Cisco's technologies in artificial intelligence, networking, security, and infrastructure.
The partnership aims to enable Canadian organizations to deploy, secure, and manage AI infrastructure within the country, offering customers more flexibility in accessing and scaling sovereign AI capacity. This move is part of Bell's growing efforts in AI and technology, following its deal with Cohere in June for large language model operations through Bell AI Fabric.
Bell also announced plans to expand its data centre project in Saskatchewan, increasing its planned size by quadrupling it. The facility's capacity will be boosted to 1.2 gigawatts as a result of the expansion.
