Benioff Joins Tech Leaders Warning on AI Risks, Urges Companies to Be Responsible
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has joined the growing chorus of tech leaders warning about AI risks. In a recent interview, he expressed concerns that companies building powerful AI models may be repeating the mistakes of social media platforms like Facebook.
Bienoff's comments come after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for frontier AI labs to slow down model development to give safety measures more time to catch up. Salesforce has deep ties to the AI industry, having recently unveiled Claudeforce, a plugin that allows clients to use Anthropic's Claude to perform tasks such as composing emails and updating records.
Bienoff emphasized the importance of considering the broader consequences of AI development, saying 'The heart of ethics is responsibility.' He stopped short of criticizing AI companies or endorsing calls to slow down development, instead urging them to be held accountable for their actions.
