Benioff Warns AI Industry: Regulate Now or Face Lawsuits
At Salesforce's annual Dreamforce conference in San Francisco, CEO Marc Benioff called on the AI industry to regulate itself or face lawsuits. He compared current AI issues to early social media mistakes and emphasized the importance of holding companies responsible for their products.
Benioff cited the Hawaiian concept of personal responsibility - kuleana - as essential for corporate ethics, saying 'we know we have to hold companies responsible for their products and technology before people are hurt.'
He also proposed a new Fortune 500-like list that would rank companies by their ethical standards. Benioff noted Apple as a firm he holds in high regard as a security standard-bearer.
