Benioff Warns AI Industry to Avoid Social Media Mistakes
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff is sounding an alarm about the rapidly growing AI industry, comparing it to social media platforms like Facebook that have faced criticism for their impact on society.
Speaking at Salesforce's annual Dreamforce event in San Francisco, Benioff warned that companies developing AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude risk repeating some of the problems created by social media if they don't take responsibility for their technology's wider effects.
A lot of companies got hurt, a lot of individuals got hurt through social media, Benioff told Jim Cramer in a Mad Money interview. We don't want that to happen in AI.
Benioff noted that Salesforce is working with companies like Anthropic, which developed the Claude AI tool, but emphasized the importance of considering the technology's impact on society. He called for companies to be held responsible and to take care of their actions and communities.
